What drives the cost of PR?

PR is priced on senior time, so the cost depends on how much creative, research and outreach work your goals need. Four things make the biggest difference.

How many audiences you need to reach

One set of travel editors is a different job from travel, food, business and property desks at once.

How much original research a campaign needs

Surveys, data analysis and design add real cost, and usually real results. Reactive commentary costs less.

How newsworthy you already are

A new opening has natural news value. An established business needs more creative work to earn attention.

How fast you need to move

Launch deadlines, crisis support and seasonal peaks all need more senior time in a shorter window.

How our fees compare with the UK market

Very few agencies publish prices. These are the most reliable public benchmarks we could find, so you can judge any proposal you receive, including ours.

Type of engagementTypical feeSource
Boutique or regional PR agency retainer £3,500 to £6,500 a month United Press, 2026
Mid-tier specialist agency retainer £7,000 to £12,000 a month United Press, 2026
Top independent agency retainer £12,000 to £25,000 a month United Press, 2026
Average independent UK agency retainer (61 agencies) About £4,700 a month (median about £3,600) Essential Content, 2024
Average digital PR contract, UK respondents About $5,200 a month BuzzStream survey, 2026

We sit in the upper half of the boutique range. That reflects senior people doing the work, campaigns built for national titles and reporting that covers search and AI visibility as well as coverage.

Why we will never sell you links

Some agencies charge per link, often a few hundred pounds each. It is easy to compare, but it rewards quantity over quality and nudges agencies towards sites that exist to sell links. Google's spam policies are clear that links bought to manipulate rankings are spam. For a premium brand the downside is not worth it. We are paid for the work and report every link honestly.

FAQs

Pricing questions

How much does PR cost in the UK?

Most UK agencies charge a monthly retainer. Published benchmarks put boutique and regional agencies at around £3,500 to £6,500 a month, mid-tier specialists at £7,000 to £12,000, and top independents at £12,000 to £25,000. Our retainers start from £4,500 a month.

Why don't you charge per link?

Per-link pricing rewards volume over quality and pushes agencies towards weaker sites. Google's spam policies treat links bought to manipulate rankings as spam. We are paid for the work, so our only incentive is coverage that is worth having.

Is there a minimum contract?

Retainers start with a three-month minimum, because campaigns take several weeks to create and pitch and search benefits build over months. After that they run on 30 days notice.

What is not included in the fee?

Photography, video, events, travel for journalists, paid survey panels and any paid distribution are quoted separately and only spent with your approval. Prices exclude VAT.

Can we start with a single project?

Yes. A launch or single campaign is a good way to test the relationship. Launch projects start from £9,500 and have a fixed scope and end date.
